| Jumping Josephine Gold Property (60% Astral Mining Corp - 40% Kootenay Gold Inc) Planned Work 2010: 5,000m diamond drill program along trend from the JJ Main discovery zone and other exciting showings Mechanised trenching of mineral showings including Highway, Hillside, Big Sheep and Siren Geological Mapping Expanded soil sampling grids Astral's Jumping Josephine Project covers an area of almost 40,000 hectares in 89 contiguous claims in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. The area is within a mining district boasting historical production in excess of 9 million ounces of high-grade gold. Located on crown land in the Blueberry-Paulson summit area, the property is located close to industry and existing infrastructure. Bisected by the paved Highway 3, Jumping Josephine is approximately 40km north of Teck-Cominco's smelting operations in Trail and 85km east a mill recently refurbished by Merrit Mining Corporation on the Greenwood Gold Project in the historical Phoenix Mining Camp. Recent work by Astral Mining includes work on the newly discovered JJ Main prospect, a showing first identified by prospectors in 2003. JJ Main was drilled for the first time in 2007 returning impressive gold results as shown below. All drill results shown were derived from HQ diameter core. The 2007 was augmented by a drilling programme in 2008, results also shown below, that confirmed and extended known mineralisation to a vertical depth of 240m and for a horizontal distance of 900m along strike. The JJ Main trend is highly prospective and soil geochemistry has returned anomalous results along strike for distance of around 6km. • 07JD001 - 10m @ 9.95g/t gold • 07JD007 - 3m @ 10.41g/t gold • 07JD013 - 19m @ 7.01g/t gold • 07JD032 - 4m @ 15.18g/t gold • 07JD034 - 5m @ 7.74g/t gold • 07JD043 - 3m @ 13.83g/t gold • 07JD046 - 6m @ 8.28g/t gold • 07JD048 - 8m @ 12.44g/t gold • 07JD051 - 5m @ 7.96g/t gold • 08JD070 --7.5m @ 10.05g/t gold • 08JD072 - 4m @ 13.23g/t gold • 08JD074 - 8m @ 8.31g/t gold • 08JD078 - 9m @ 3.94g/t gold • 08JD082 --3.5m @ 11.24g/t gold • 08JD086 - 15m @ 1.24g/t gold • 08JD092 - 4m @ 21.0g/t gold • 08JD096 - 6m @ 8.73g/t gold Gold mineralization is constrained within a moderate to steeply dipping silicified and sericitized quartz stockwork zone hosted within Jurassic aged monzonites. The stockwork zone exhibits multi-phase veining within a significant northeast striking fault/shear zone and ranges in true width from 1-2 metres up to 12m. The mineralized zone is cut by low angle, north-south trending extensional faults often occupied by syenite (Coryell suite) or lamprophyre dykes. Maximum observed displacement on these faults can reach 20m but is typically less than 5m. Visible gold is often observed in the higher grade intercepts and mineralization is associated with arsenopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, galena ± molybdenite. Astral is pursuing an instrusive-related gold model on the property and is focusing on the Jurassic and Eocene age intrusive rocks known to host gold mineralization. A roughly circular magnetic anomaly centred below the JJ Main stockwork zone suggests a buried stock up to 2km in diameter, possibly representing a porphyry style mineralizing system. Independent 43-101 reports on the property have been completed and are available here. |
