Chenier Copper-Gold Property
(Astral Mining Corp earning 60% from Kootenay Gold Inc)
Planned Work 2008:
Ground Induced Polarization geophysical survey scheduled for fall 2008
2,000m diamond drilling program is contingent on favourable geophysics
Trenching over several new showings
Expanded soil sampling grids
The Chenier property covers an area of approximately 4,591.7 hectares in the Kelly Creek area north of Rock Creek in southern British Columbia. The property straddles the boundary of two provincial mining divisions, with most claims contained within the Greenwood Mining Division and a smaller western portion in the Osoyoos Mining Division.
Chenier represents another new discovery in southern British Columbia. Mineralization and alteration seen at surface is thought to have many similarities to the higher levels of an alkalic porphyry copper-gold system. Preliminary mapping during 2006 revealed several zones of mineralization including vein and fracture controlled copper mineralization related to hematite and locally intense K-spar alteration in the northern part of the area. More widespread mineralization includes numerous quartz veins containing chalcopyrite, molybdenite, sphalerite or galena. Gold occurs in quartz veins and shears in the southwest part of the claim group and is anomalous in other base metal veins. Mapping described above is documented in ARIS assessment report authored found at the following location http://www.empr.gov.bc.ca/DL/ArisReports/28960.PDF .
Since Astral's involvement in the property in early 2007, work completed includes an aerial geophysical survey and a 1,583 point soil geochemical survey over two zones of intense K-spar alteration and hematite veining totalling an area of some 3.5km2.
Encouraging results from 2007 warrant further soil sampling and ground geophysics leading to diamond drilling initially over areas of intense K-spar alteration.
